A day in Cedar Rapids and the CRANDIC Railway

On May 23, 2020 a friend and I went on a trip to Cedar Rapids over in Iowa. I have never saw the CRANDIC Railway so this was a new experience. We checked out several yards & I photographed the CRANDIC ones as well as the locomotive area. We later seen some switching downtown as well as a train made for IAIS coming out of a CRANDIC yard. Also noticed an old railroad Bridge that caught my eye and a ROW that is now a trail with a walking bridge over the UP mainline. This was once the ROW for the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway from 1876 til 1903. Afterwards it was the ROW for the Rock Island Railroad. It is now the Hoover Nature trail. While there saw a few other sites as well such as a park, power plant, UP railroad bridge as well as downtown and the Cedar River. We also saw some new ballast cars which was cool to see. ...
