On this day last year a KJ in East Peoria...

Image
How do I start this off since alot happened? Last year on this day (Jan 20, 2017) I went in for a throat procedure and caught KJRY in East Peoria which I never seen before and haven't since.  The day started having to go in for a minor throat procedure to remove blockage from my airway plus for them to check out the tracheostomey and such. I was out for a few hours.  I left early taking my brother n law in case I was too out of it to drive home.  So leave around 4:30 in the morning and drive by Kolbe on the way where the locomotives were sitting snapped a few pictures then go on to the hospital. They  do the procedure, I survived but was sore and couldn't talk and we leave. After we leave Scott doesn't know Peoria well and I got tired of trying to point out directions and couldn't speak  loud due to a very sore throat. I got impatient and took over the wheel despite being still tired and sore as hell. I just didn't want to talk much ...

Need to really catch up on SNL...

Back in the 1990's one of my favorite pastimes was catching episodes of Saturday Night Live. Every generation thinks their generation of SNL was the best but I can say mine was or atleast up there with the  best of the shows history. In my day Chris Farley, David Spade, Phil Hartman, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock were kind of big on the show. Some made names of themselves and went onto movies like the people I just mentioned whom were worthy of it.  Chris Farley was always a personal favorite because of how he delivered his lines, and his movements. He didn't have to even do much to be funny sometimes a facial expression was all it took not just because he was the fat guy who fell down alot. I  miss that man. I also used to enjoy Phil Hartman because he could deliver his lines and he could make one laugh with little effort.   Now I'm catching up on SNL on youtube and can say Kenan Thompson  deserves to be ranked up there with some of the more fa...

Canton Lake debate

Image
By what I've been reading is someone is wanting to come in to Canton Lake and buy some property to remodel and make it look more decent. I've also read nothing much will change and the public will still be able to use the lake and camp grounds also to use the boat docks it costs the same as it's was.  This is what I have been reading and hearing unless I'm missing something.  Naturally people of Canton oppose change or even some progress to this quiet  community. I highly doubt this will provide jobs or much anyway but it could make one of the few attractions this town has look presentable to maybe encourage people to visit.  I said could so what exactly is wrong with that? Now if they did plan to close off a portion of the lake to the citizens and every day joe's of Canton then I would have an issue with it since I sometimes like to fish out there.   I guess look on the bright side atleast it's not the Coal mine.  As much as I support Co...

Memories and stories of Dad....

Image
I have talked about my dad many times before but in the mood to put down all good memories online to sort of help my grief some. After ten years the missing and grief is still there and will probably never go away.  It's life though and eventually everyone experiences this so you can't avoid it.  Dad and Mom both had their flaws and issues which I have forgiven them for but I also realized over the  years there is not one single perfect person on the planet.  God knows I have all kinds of flaws.  The understatement of the century I'm afraid. Despite this always felt more closer to Dad and sought his approval over anyone.  I was a difficult kid and teenager so I sort of gave him or anyone authority the business  at times growing up.  I feel bad about that now but atleast we found common ground, a better relationship and apologizeds to each other over various crap before he passed away.  I'm good on that stuff but there is still al...

KJRY on a winter's day and fog weather shots...

Image
Thankfully it hasn't been as cold as it was and managed to get above 35 so figuring a Westbound might pull through I  do a short drive to a few  spots for fog winter shots to pass the time til they might pull into Canton. I go to Bryant and take a few pictures there of the old Interurban depot  there and the BNSF Yates City sub tracks as well as a few other random shots.  I like weather pictures so it kind of sparked interest when I seen how foggy it was this morning.  I go up to Cuba and head back unto  Canton and seen no KJRY.  I figured maybe they are running another  day or did yesterday which I didn't hear so I go home for a bit. My Brother n law used the car and whom do I hear KJRY's horn ofcourse. Haha My luck and timing sometimes.  I didn't think I would  catch them at all today and Scott comes home.  I go  down to Cuba to see if I can catch up and I see the last car depart  Cuba so I head it off at Hi...
