This morning's KJ & Cuba adventure

This morning was expecting a Keokuk Junction Railway train to come through but was waiting a while so i left to go down to Lewistown then up to Cuba back to Canton.  The Railline runs along the highway between Canton and Cuba.  I caught it around Wee ma Tuk.  Then I went further down and filmed it just east of Cuba by a mile. Before that explored a little where the old Fulton County Narrow Gauge ran in the City of Cuba.  It crossed a city street ( 2nd avenue or street I think) and went  right along the Cuba Cemetery then  behind it.  The railroad bed is still viseable.  That stretch was abandoned in 1977 so still pretty fresh.  Then south of Cuba i stopped and took pictures of the crossing signal box where the tracks once crossed Route 97.  I think this was a spur that went to a Coal Mine atleast it looked like it by a few maps and the main went  a little west then up.  The main was in that area though I do know that much.  What is known after Fulton County Narrow Gauge was bought out by CB&Q  around 1905 they abandoned most sections of the line from Fairview to Galesburg and Lewistown to West Havana around 1935.  The remaining section from Lewistown to Fairview served local coal mines and was abandoned in 1977 by Burlington Northern Railroad.

Here are the KJRY photos I took at Wee Ma Tuk crossing between Canton and Cuba, Illinois:

Just east of Cuba, Illinois a westbound KJ heads to Cuba:

Here is the former FCNG/CB&Q/BN Railroad bed & row in Cuba, Illinois:

Here is the signal box for the crossing that once held up traffic on Route 97 (haha): (map included I drew conclusion where the ROW and what it was for was).
