Just when you thought Canton couldn't take another blow....BOOM!

They announced the JC Penny Store in Canton is one of the stores they will be closing not that I'm suprised by it.  JC Pennies mentioned closing stores a month or so back but didn't announce where.  They finally announced a few local stores and Canton was amongst them.  Shocker! So  when they do close it down not only will some people lose jobs but be another empty building to add to the others this town has.  I have heard a Lumber company wants to open where the old K-Mart store was so maybe that might give this town a slight boost or atleast make it not look so empty.  Walmart will always prevail here so no matter what closes down here  you can sure bet they'll survive.  I shop there for things on sale so they are a god send really for those on limted budgets so not knocking them.  We do however need more variety in this town so we don't have to drive thirty miles or more to shop in some other town.  JC Penny and it's closure is hardly the city of Canton's fault but the people who run this town should probably look to try to attract more business here instead of driving them away with threats of over taxing them and playing mind games.

If this town truelly wanted to grow they would make an effort to work with anyone wanting to build instead of driving them elsewhere.  It seems Canton's politicians and alot of residents want to keep this town as a dead end  go no where town where people either have to move or travel to shop, find employment or look for entertainment.  You would think they would want a boost in economy and a means to bring more money into the town as well as a good reputation for this town instead of the joke of one it has now but oooohhhh Noooo!   Step up your game Canton and lets encourage growth and an economy boost instead of  staying dead.  At one time this town had such promise and was a booming manufacturing town with two railroads as well as area coal mines that employed many.  Now the only jobs for people here are low paying  Fast food joints or Walmart.  A job is a job I guess if people need money but this town could use a bigger variety of employment and better paying options instead of having to drive thirty or more miles or relocate.  They did build an O'Reilly's store and coming soon a Dunkin Donuts.  I guess we should rejoice....Canton is saved you all!

The JC Penny closure will not impact me personally since I haven't shopped there since 1997 as it was  expensive or didn't have the variety of stuff that held my interest like Walmart or even K-mart back in the day.  This is however a loss we didn't need since we just lost K-mart last year leaving Walmart with little to no competition.  I can see others point of views on Walmart destroying competition but the truth is these chains failed to compete with Walmart bargains and can only blame themselves.  People including me our looking to cut corners money wise and buy whatever is the cheapest not what is more.  A price doesn't always mean a product is better and sometimes for Walmart you can get more at a lower price than other chains.  This is just my personal opinion.  I happen to like Walmart so I'll vouch for them but  other stores not offering deals as well as poor management has led to some store closures.  We don't need more closures but they failed to compete so it's a weird situation of sorts.  Canton should however be thinking of attracting more so when something does close it doesn't sting too bad economy or the feels of the town.  I feel this town could have potential if politicans here  half way cared or the people in this town.  Again this is just an opinion I'm not looking to step on toes or ruffle many feathers.
