We caught the BJRY #701 in Burlington

Today a friend and I went  on an adventure to catch an Alco in Burlington, Iowa as well as railfan in Fort Madison for a bit.  We stopped at La Harpe in western Illinois to view KJRY's diesel shop which it had many locomotives. Later that day we would go back and see the  A-B-A line up as well as the Sw13 #1301 there.  The sun ruined those shots so the pictures didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.  Anyways we get to Burlington and looked around.  We only seen 2 BNSF locomotives which were not coupled to anything.  They headed towards the yard.  We see a tail end of another train leaving it so we follow it which turned out to be the Alco I was told about by a friend. We get ahead of it and film it.  The alco #701 is  a C415 and Burlington Junction Railway operates it on weekdays.  We also seen another BJRY locomotive which was # 3236 Whitcomb Rs-4-Tc. It was parked at some business. The locomotive was identified by a friend of a friend so much thanks to him and thanks to the friend who told me about this.  Also there i checked out an Old Steam locomotive display which is next to the Amtrak station and near the  Rail yard there.

After Burlington we headed down to Fort Madison and hung around a bit.  We caught several BNSF trains and seen one Union Pacific.  All crossed the Mississippi River from that toll swing bridge. We toured the inside of a caboose and filmed a train from on the caboose which was passing by.  Man did that shake that caboose.  While coming down off of it met another Railfan named Marvin and his girlfriend Doris who films trains and lives in Fort Madison. We talked a while and made friends.  We exchanged emails and phone numbers in case they are in the area or vise versa we are in theirs. That was cool meeting other railfans and making a potential friend. I'm suprised my anxiety levels weren't through the roof then again I took an ativan before I left. It also helps anxiety when you're around other people with the same interest so that was kind of cool. The guy was a real talker I tell you what.  LOL. After them we grabbed a bite to eat and went and ate at the Amtrak station watching a Union Pacific intermodel train stop in front of us then leave. We left after that so we can go to La Harpe before the sun set. When we got there the sun  and the angle of the trains screwed up the shots but atleast we seen the F units #1750 & #1752, the B unit #1761 and the Sw13 #1301 there.  We then left for home  and we caught a bnsf train outside of Bushnell.  All and all it was a good trip and we enjoyed ourselves.  I enjoy having company so if I can make friends the more the merrier.  Haha.  I'd be open to rail fanning with people.  It would improve my social skills. Anyways after Bushnell drove to Fiatt and I showed him an old crossbuck and right of way of the former FCNG and CB&Q Railroads.  The sunset at that point sowe went home.  I dropped him off and here I am writing this blog and uploading.  The wind at times was annoying and the sun kind of wasn't on our good side but it was a great trip.  The next one thinking of Railfanning the Iowa Interstate up at the Quad cities or Bloomington railroads but most likely Quad cities.  What an awesome day!
