New Mayor new hope

Recently within the past few days the city held it's elections and our previous mayor was voted out from getting reelected.  I have some hope this guy will actually improve this town in some way atleast more so that the previous guy.  What exactly this guy will do I have no idea?  Will he attract more businesses? What kind of improvements will he make? Will he work for the people or be self serving?  This is the chance you take with politics.  The unknown can be a great thing and a blessing but it also can turn out to be another disappointment too.  I am hopeful that he will make some improvements.  The last guy went on about making improvements to side walks.  I'm like Oh wow side walks.  The citizens of Canton really care about sidewalks.   This sure beats bringing in jobs or making this town grow.   Does he not see the potential this town could have?

This town at one time had manufacturing here and two railroads.  Then on top of that the area coal mines employed many.  Those days are gone probably unless some coal mine managed to get the green light to open up somewhere in the county.  Highly unlikely with as many people who would belly ache over it and throw a huge fit.  Moving on this town could really benefit if it could attract some form of manufacturing which would bring in better paying employment than Walmart or some fast food joint.  Cook Medical only brought along so many jobs we need more than this.  We could also use more department store chains, more varieties in fast food joints or resturaunts and other things here that could give the town a good look and maybe attract people here.  Also could it hurt this town to fix some roads in spots where they are questionable.  They have done some on and off for years so I give them that but it's still a rough ride on some streets.   Also Canton needs to attract more in the ways of things to do than a string of Churches or taverns.  I know one complaint I have had growing up here when I was young there was nothing  fun to do.  They could try to lure in potential places for not just kids but everybody.  I'm hoping this new guys atleast works on some of this.

What changes will be made if any?  This is too soon to know yet but I do hope this guy does a better job with this town than the previous one.  I'm happy a new mayor was elected.  Maybe there could be some hope left in this town!
